People interested in Baltic Sea coastal landscape development, vegetation succession, National Park management, museum exhibitions and public aquaria and  UNESCO natural and cultural heritage, eg. the medieval Hanse city of Stralsund.

Full description
The excursion on Thursday starts from Bremen main train station with a train ride via Hamburg to Stralsund. After hotel check-in and a welcome lunch, we will start exploring the historic city centre of Stralsund and visit the Deutsches Meeresmuseum. After dinner the “Night Watchman’s wife” will guide us around the medieval town centre (UNESCO cultural heritage) and introduce us to the history of and life in Stralsund in past times. The Friday excursion will be a bus ride to visit the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The NP’s scientific head research & monitoring will guide us for a forest, dune and beach walk to the Darss lighthouse (with exhibition, see https://www.natureum-darss.de/en/) and introduce us to the nature resources and management concepts of the park. The Saturday excursion will visit the Jasmund NP with ancient beech forest (UNESCO natural heritage), cretaceous cliffs, and will be also accompanied by the NP officer. A further visit to the Natural Heritage Forum or the Treetop Walk at the Natural Heritage Centre Rügen is an option. Sunday will include a visit to the OZEANEUM in Stralsund before the return ride to Bremen by train (program may be subject to alterations).

Fees per person depend on accommodation:
Standard single: 660,- € (street view)
Comfort single: 690,- € (scenic city view)
Standard double: 560,- € (street view)
Comfort  double: 580,- € (scenic city view)

Fees include train rides to/from Stralsund, hotel accommodation/breakfast, all local transfers, entrance fees, lunches and dinners.

Payment Deadline
Full participation fees need to be settled by March 20, 2020.

Requirements
Excursions can include beach walking, dune and forest hiking (about 12 km); pls. inform about dietary needs.
Bring hiking shoes, drinking bottle, swimwear and towel (?), binoculars (?)
